Cock of the North earns tilt in Racing Post Trophy

Cock of the North could give trainer Scott Dixon a unique Doncaster double on Saturday.

The two-year-old son of Cockney Rebel landed the Brocklesby Stakes at Town Moor back in March and is poised to line-up in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy.

Aidan O'Brien, who has won three of the last five renewals with Kingsbarns, Camelot and St Nicholas Abbey, has six entries - Aloft, Giovanni Canaletto, Hans Holbein, Jacobean, Order of St George and Royal Navy Ship.

Andrew Balding's Elm Park, impressive winner of the Royal Lodge Stakes, will be bidding to give jockey Jamie Spencer another Group 1 win as he retires from the saddle at the end of the season.

John Gosden saddles Snoano, Richard Hannon has entered Tupi, while Saeed bin Suroor runs Best of Times as Godolphin chase a third win in the race.

William Muir's Restorer has been supplemented for the contest and Celestial Path could be Sir Mark Prescott's first runner in the race.

Cock of the North already has some decent form in the book and was runner-up to Tiggy Wiggy in his second start in the National Stakes at Sandown and has also run Estidhkaar a close third in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.
