Bolger to double-up in Velka Pardubicka

Enda Bolger has confirmed he plans to have two runners in this year's Velka Pardubicka.

Freneys Well and Drombeag, who will both carry the colours of JP McManus, are to be aimed at the race in October and will be ridden by Nina Carberry and JT McNamara respectively.

The 10-year-old Freneys Well won the Irish Field Chase at the Punchestown Festival in April, having finished second in the La Touche Cup, while the 12-year-old Drombeag finished second to Freneys Well in the Irish Field Chase.

Bolger speaking exclusively to www.cdhorseracingtours.com said: "The plan is to have two runners at Pardubice - Freneys Well and Drombeag. We've decide to give them both a prep race two weeks before the Velka Pardubicka, probably at either Listowel or Galway.

"We'll then have to see how they come out of their races before making travel plans to the Czech Republic, but we're very keen to try and win the race this year.

"Nina (Carberry) will ride Freneys Well and JT (McNamara) will be on Drombeag. We've got two experienced horses and two very capable cross-country riders - probably the best two in the business so we'll be going there with a very good each-way chance.

"The ground shouldn't be a concern - as long as it isn't rock hard - but getting ahead of Josef Vana might be more difficult. He is a great guy with a much respected record in the race - I'm just hoping that he might decide not to ride this year!"
