Bailey reaches 60 winners for the season

Kim Bailey has hit sixty winners for the season after landing a double at Ludlow.

Bailey, who has runn 66 individual horses this campaign from his Thorndale Farm base near Cheltenham, was on hand to watch Jimmy The Jetplane and Mere Anarchy score at the Shropshire course.

Bailey writing in his daily blog commented: "We started the day on 58 and never did I think we would make 60 and with possibly our last two runners of the season we did... yes yes yes we have.

"It really has been a brilliant season and hitting 60 was a dream hope, but a target we set when we hit 40...only nine trainers have had more winners than us this season and all of them have run over 100 individual horses; we have run 66.

"I have been so lucky as it is all down to great owners, who have been so supportive over many years, and great jockeys who have ridden our winners in AP McCoy (17), Jason Maguire (15), David Bass(15), Ed Cookson (six), Tom Bellamy (four), Andrew Thornton (one), Harry Bannister (one), Richard Johnson (one) and let's not forget Dougie Costello who rode my one Flat winner..."

Bailey, whose record seasonal tally is 86 in 1993/94 when he was based in Lambourn, has seen the number of winners steadily increase season-by-season: 2006/07 - 9; 2007/8 - 3; 2008/09 - 19, 2009/10 - 19; 2010/11 - 38; 2011/12 - 32; 2012/13 - 27 and 2013/14 - 35.
