Tour Summary

We have put together a special package for anyone interested in horse racing – a fun and entertaining morning including breakfast, a trip to the gallops and an informative stable tour with Group One-winning trainer Bryan Smart.

Tour History

Bryan has trained over 600 winners, sending out a seasonal best of 74 winners in 2011, and has been based at Hambleton House since 2002.

Historic Hambleton House is located at the top of Sutton Bank and the Whitestone Cliff on the site of the old Hambleton Racecourse in the stunning North Yorks Moors National Park.  Champions have been trained at Hambleton House since the 17th Century.

Bryan, who rode over 200 winners during his career as a National Hunt jockey, was forced to retire due to injury from the saddle in 1982.

After notable success at training point-to-point winners, Bryan took out a full licence in 1986 and started training at Hill House (Lambourn).

As the winners continued to flow further expansion was required and the move was made to Berkeley House Stables in Upper Lambourn in 2000.

Two years later and it become obvious that Bryan would need to expand his facilities once again, so after 12 years in Lambourn he headed north to Hambleton House.

He has won numerous top-class races including: Bond Boy (Stewards Cup) Tangerine Trees (Prix De L'Abbaye), Hellvelyn (Coventry Stakes), Maze (Chesham Stakes) and Moviesta (King George Stakes).

Current stable stars include Tangerine Trees, Fendale and Red Pike.

There is stabling for over 80 horses in this very friendly, but professional and state of the art training facility.
